I am seriously considering getting a Nook e-reader.?

I have not decided between the regular Nook or the color one. I like to check out e-books through the library, using Adobe Digital, so would like to know if you can check them out directly, with either the Wi-Fi or the 3G options, or if you have to first download them to a computer.
