Why might One be inclined not/to believe in the soul?

I am Roman catholic and I most certainly believe in the soul..when we pass its our soul that goes to heaven or Hell...if we had no soul than there wouldn't be a purpose for heaven and Hell...I personally know I have a soul because I was conscious when it left my body...its a scary feeling but I'm glad I experience something supernatural like that ..I woke up not being able to move ..my body felt dead but at the same time I was awake..I couldn't lift a finger and I was fighting so hard to move but my body laid still.
